At the beginning of Creation, God set into motion the functioning Law of Cause and Effect. This Law was infused into the matrix of each atom in his Created Universe. Without the perfect functioning of this Law all creation would return to chaos in a few seconds. The Universe, as such, does not just exist, but must be constantly sustained by the continued active efforts of the Almighty God. Were He to neglect this duty for an instant, the force that holds the atoms together would dissipate and all existence as we know it would crumble. God is not only not dead, but it is His constant perpetual involvement with all that is, alone, that allows life as we know it to continue.
As it is with God, so is it with us who are created in His Image. While all else in the world is controlled exclusively by the will and force of God, men and women have been given the ability to control their own destinies. Each person, in this sense, is a law unto himself. This freedom exists only to the extent, however, that each one has the right to accept or reject the Law of God, not that he is able to make a new Law. There can be no new Law. The Law IS and it is immutable. Should it deviate for a fraction of a second, all we know would vanish and CHAOS would once again reign supreme.
As we have been given, by God, the power over our own small internal Universe, we must come to understand that it, like His, must be constantly sustained. The Laws of our Universe are exactly the same as those of His, because they are direct reflections of one another. As he must remain ever vigilant to prevent His structure from deteriorating, so must we. Unfortunately, for us, He is much better at this than we. Like the animals in the nursery story of "The Little Red Hen," we are usually ever ready to eat the bread that another prepares, but want no part of the efforts necessary to create the loaf.
The simple Law of God that governs us all and that mankind as a whole, since the "fall," has attempted to ignore is "As ye sow, so shall ye surely reap." With a Law so simple, no man can really in all honesty say, "I don't understand." What in truth he can - and does - say is, "I don't like this Law. Therefore, I shall put another in its place that is more to my liking." This is what we have, at times, referred to as "adjusting."
The Law, of course, cannot be adjusted. To do so would be to destroy the Universe. What we do is attempt to circumvent the Law. During such overt actions the Law views us as criminals under surveillance. If we continue in our efforts to unbalance the Law, we shall reach a point where the reactions of our efforts returns to us, and pain and discomfort ensure. At such a time, the suffering that is experienced is rarely accepted for what it is, the legitimate consequence of our own actions. We usually blame sundry individuals, never God Himself, for allowing us to suffer so.
Interestingly, man is endowed with an ability that even God Himself will not use, that of destroying his own Universe. By those acts called evil or sin, man can, if he is sufficiently diligent, manage to so upset the stability of his atomic structure that he does what God will not do, return his own Universe to chaos. The Bible calls this the second death, the death of the Soul. Once this happens that individual personality or microcosmic Universe is gone, never to return again. The material of which it was composed may, however, be reorganized by the Creator into a new Soul, which will then begin anew the cycle of births and deaths.
As we enter the New Renaissance, it is of the most vital importance that all who desire to be a part of this New World learn to keep their own Universe in order. This is your world, and no one can take care of it but you. This Law and truism puts the lie to all teaching and concepts that suggest some sort of vicarious atonement. To achieve Immortality we must harmonize the atoms of our being with those of the Creator. These atoms can be affected only by our personal thoughts and actions and are, therefore, unaffected even by the most well-meaning efforts of others.
Each atom in our body is the counterpart of a star and
solar system in the body of God. To each we must bring the same
harmony that He brings to the starry world above us.
