The Six Mistakes of Man

Concern over the misconceptions of men is not new. It has been expressed by many philosophers over the centuries, but perhaps never so eloquently as by the Roman philosopher Cicero in his Six Mistakes of Man.

1. The delusion that personal gain is made by crushing others.

2. The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed or corrected.

3. Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it.

4. Refusing to set aside trivial preferences.

5. Neglecting the development and refinement of the mind and Soul. Not acquiring the habit of reading and studying.

6. Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do.

We have these six "Mistakes" posted directly over our work desk so that we do not forget any of them as we go about our efforts to help all humanity. It is amazing how easy it is to fall into bad habits without such constant reminders.
