Chapter Eleven

The Time Is at Hand

The time is now highly propitious for all of those who have even but slightly awakened to the realities as well as to the possibilities, and in whom has awakened a desire for progress as a result of Regeneration. These must become conscious of the fact that it is not alone sufficient to possess faith in the Law, but also is essential to begin living in harmony with its requirements, in order to be able to reap the benefits. Now, as always, the promise, the assurance, is that he who lives according to the Law shall receive the fruits - the full benefits, the Reaction - of the Law.

Countless human creatures in possession of all the potentialities - the talents - for happiness, (a long and successful life as a result of developing latent inherent forces and powers, and final Immortalization), are rapidly approaching the destruction foretold in both Arcane (Occult) and Sacred literature.

They are gradually perishing - deteriorating - because they will not listen to the exposition and direction of the Law of Life, the life more abundant; or, listening, will not work in harmony with it. About us, despite all the good and desirable things men are blessed with as never before in the history of this globe, there are wars, or rumors of (constant preparation for) war.

There is enormous waste of material and energy necessitated by such rumors, and all because men will not reason constructively, will not assert their manhood and strength in defiance of those who seek to wage war for aggression, but would be too weak and cowardly to do so - is faced with determination that they shall not pass, shall not threaten, dictate or take over.

Were there real desires for peace in the hearts of the majority, if these to be firm in their desire to be men - to neither dictate nor permit interference - peace could be established. So long as the great majority will not see with a clear vision, fear, reinforced by those who would profit by such fears, will dictate men's actions and they will remain weaklings; they will not be men of strength and determination as were those who were Divinely selected to establish a new world, outline a plan for the New Order of the Ages, and write the Laws for its government.

Reading the future from the indications of the present, it will require long suffering and the drinking of the "dregs of misery" before men will begin to recognize the strength of the real manhood dormant within themselves. They will then begin to see more clearly the way to establish peace for all. They will learn to begin with the Unit so clearly indicated by "To thine own self be true,...;" they will bring peace by means of faith and trust first in individual hearts; then, in families, they will remove contentions therein; next, in the community; then in towns, cities, the states and, finally, the Nation ( a nation founded on the insoluble coherence of its citizens - as all nations should be within themselves).

The wise man will become conscious of the fact that he must limit himself to his own nation, the nation being a union of many families. When there is no longer antagonism and mistrust among families, the nation will be at peace, and possess the strength to defy successfully all aggressor nations.

The one, the only tribunal, wherein peace can begin to be established is in the hearts of men. So long as these hearts are filled with malice, hatred, and revenge, as a result of mistrust and betrayals by their fellow men, there shall be no peace - despite the readily given promises and pledges of politicians who know naught of genuine statesmanship and whose only concern is profit and self interest of one type or another.

For the sake of aggrandizement or ambition, nations continue to war against nations and millions are slaughtered. All such casualties, who fall not in the cause of self-defense or of national welfare, raise and eternal cry. These souls are denied time to fulfill their destinies, and they stand in judgment over all those responsible. Self-preservation is recognized as nature's first law. Protection and self-protection alone can righteously be considered as cause for war, a war of defense. In such a war, no one may lawfully profit one farthing without becoming responsible and ultimately reaping in full measure the curse - the Reaction of the Law of Responsibility and Compensation.

There are others considered equally guilty under the Divine Law. These are those who instigate acts and profit by acts of war, not necessary to the defense of the person or nation. These are the many usurers, the money lenders and employers of a type, who take advantage of the many who, because of their weakness, ignorance or lack of protective organization, continue to be the victims. These last are the slaves of circumstances - human derelicts - because compelled or propelled by others - caged underground; others dwell in the wilderness of forests; and still others, including countless women and children, toil in factories unfit for the habitat of beasts of the jungle.

All, who in one manner or another exploit the weak, defenseless, and unprotected, have the guilt and the blood of the weak upon their Souls, if Souls they still possess. The must and will stand as culprits before the judgment of the Divine Law. In due time they must compensate for every pain, every sorrow, and every injustice of which they are guilty. If it occurs within the nation, then that nation cannot again be fully free or completely regain its manhood and strength, until all indebtedness is paid to those so wronged.

Legislative enactments will help little to establish justice unless based on the constitutional rights of all men, as written into the Constitutional by those who were selected by the Divine Law to prepare the foundation for the New Order of Men, and as enforced by popular demand of the vast majority of the people against the selfish interest of the few.

It is the Duty of God's servants, Messengers, Priests, Ministers and Initiates of the Great Orders to be active in establishing such a procedure of Law and Order without indulging in political activities.

The one and only successful remedy is education and enlightenment - the enlightenment of men in the operating Law - and an explanation of how they are affected, if they will not cooperate with the Law. This activity by the Divine Law will result gradually in making outcasts from all decent society all those who have engaged, or are engaging, in the exploitation of or the attempt to exploit, the masses, who are either unable to protect themselves, or too ignorant or too inert to do so.

Unless men begin to bethink themselves they shall perish. The Law has not been changed one iota since John preached in the wilderness; since the Nazarene and other Philosophic Initiates were instructed in Egypt and the Master-Teacher finished his training with the Essenes. To bethink oneself, or to "repent," to use the biblical term, is to awaken to the truth governing man, (body, mind and Soul), and to catch a glimpse of the Light ahead.

Man will not bethink himself unless and until he first begins to realize that the life he has been living is irrational and unnatural; that there must be something better, higher and more desirable; something that will lead him out of the morass of the purely sensual into a deeper insight of reality.

Once man awakens to even a part of the truth and begins to bethink himself, he will also give consideration to the Divine Law, though he may not know it by that term. He will be compelled by an inner urge to ask himself whether it is right that he should profit by any act, which will bring harm or loss to another, and he will question himself whether the command "thou shalt not steal" does not apply to an unfair profit.

By bethinking himself, he will also gradually awaken his inner faculties as a help in the direction of all his activities in life. Gradually, then, as he obeys more and more the dictates of the Divine Law, he will learn to depend upon himself rather than on other men. He will gradually regain his manhood. With reestablished manhood will come strength. He will then advance, step by step, toward the goal for which his birth in the flesh destined him.

Every Man, whatever his status in life, is responsible to God - or if he does not believe in God, to the Reacting Law - for all of his acts, aye, his every thought and desire. No man is permitted to plead that he was compelled to act unseemingly or unrighteously toward another. To offer such an excuse is to admit to being the slave of persons or circumstances.

No one can be held in Bondage either by circumstances or personalities, unless he first creates by his own act the conditions making that possible. The poet recognized this when he wrote: "I am the captain of my ship," and every one is ordained by his birth to be the captain - the director - of his own being.

The initial step in man's search for freedom is the conquest over the self; "to thine own self be true." This means to free the self from all other than constructive and elevating desires. It is the carnal, selfish, lusty passions that ultimately lead the individual to rob, cheat, lie, and exploit his fellow creatures to his own selfish ends. Collectively these acts lead to war, rapine, murder, and every known debasement and crime.

The salvation of a race or nation must begin with the individual. As the individual becomes conscious of the truth - the action of the Divine Law in operation - and obeys the dictates thereof, Regeneration begins within himself. The fruits of such a regime will become apparent to others and induce them to follow in his footsteps.

This is Biblically indicated by the command not to "hide our light under a bushel"; ultimately the nation, like the individual, is "saved," i.e., rehabilitated, and firmly established under the protection and direction of the Divine Law and will continue throughout the age or cycle of a thousand years - a Millennium.

No man under the Divine Law is permitted to claim before the Divine Throne, the Court of Last Resort in so far as he is concerned, that he was forced to war against his fellow man. The Divine Law recognizes no such thing as compulsion. Patrick Henry gave recognition to this Law when he proclaimed to the world that he would accept death rather than a curtailment of his liberty - freedom of choice.

Every man by his birth has conferred upon himself the right of choice, i.e., Free Will, and is thereby and thereunder held personally responsible for all his acts and the manner of his life. Only the nature of the inducing cause, in so far as he is personally concerned can mitigate or nullify the resulting penalty.

No man is able under the Divine Law to plead force. Every man, other than the idiot or the savage born without a reasoning mind, is bound to analyze each desire and act before he commits it. He is Divinely bound to ask himself: Is it right that I do this? Is it harmful to myself or another? Will it bring harm, sorrow, or loss to myself or others? Will it have a destructive, degrading Reaction?

If the answer indicates that it is not in every sense to his best interest, it is a "sin." It is his duty to himself and to God to refrain. He may not commit the deed even though not doing so may cost him his life. He must bear in mind the precept that under such circumstances: "he who would save his life, shall lose it."

In the consideration of the Divine Law in this connection, it is permitted to ask the question: What is Right? What and when is a "sin?" Every thought, desire or act which may be harmful to one's self or another, is unrighteous and therefore "sinful."

There is a middle ground. There are conditions or circumstances compelling man to make a choice and act, though any choice he makes would result in harm. In such an event, the lesser evil must be chosen.

This might be in the protection of life, one's own or another's when it is certain that one or the other will forfeit life. In such an instance Nature's Law of Self Preservation is in order, and life is taken to save life. Even so, it may be murder, if the victor was the aggressor.

War comes under this heading and is always wrong, but when a nation becomes (unrighteously and not for its own protection) the aggressor and would rape and destroy, then the nation chosen as the victim may claim the protection of Nature's Law of Self Preservation and wage war in return. This is sanctioned by the Divine Law as fighting "fire with fire."

He who has awakened to the Law of Justice, whose mind has become imbued with the Divine Law, will recognize only his duty; first, to God and second, to man. He always will try to obey the Laws of the Father, as does the worker the orders of those in executive positions above him.

The awakened man seeks the avenue of right (exact justice to all), listens to the voice within himself, and obeys this regardless of the cost.

He is not governed by a blind faith, that being slavery; he walks in the path of the Light of the Soul - the Light which comes from God the Father, and which blends with the Light that is within himself.

No man who has come into Conscious Oneness with the Father can, or will, uphold the destruction of life or countenance it except when essential to self-preservation. No man, who has become awakened and has traveled the Path to Illumination, can sanction war, though he may admit it to have become necessary for the protection of the innocent.

War is not made right merely because sanctioned by organized society, which is termed "the government" and which composed of individuals who themselves personally are responsible to God and who, though combined in a united group, possess no greater right to sanction legal murder than does the individual.

Only Right is Might.

Even when war is made necessary for the protection of a nation's sovereignty, its women and children, the old and weak, it is a crime because it destroys life of many men who were not destined by the Divine Law to die. It is, however, sacred to God, when it becomes necessary as the lesser of two evils. Not to do so would result in being murdered, and that would constitute suicide, self-murder.

Under the Divine Law it is just as evil and destructive to the Souls of men in unison to commit crime, as it is for the individual to do so. "Thou shalt not kill" is the fiat sent forth by God and has come thundering down the ages. War is wrong even though necessary for protection of the wronged, though it will continue to be waged as long as men hate and remain covetous of possessions and power. It is the duty of Initiates, Master-Teachers, Messengers and the Anointed, to define its evils and evil doers.

It is written by the Messenger of the New Order of the Ages, that:

"Ye have heard (read or been taught) that it was said by them of old (the Master-Teachers and Messengers of God) time, ‘Thou shalt not kill,' and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of judgment (all who take life risk this danger and the only reason that some escape the judgment - condemnation - is because they were justified in that they defended either their own or another's life, and were not the aggressors in the fray or conflict which resulted in the taking of life); but I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall (also) be in danger of the judgment (anger in the heart is a form of hatred and is a double-edged sword. It causes one to see darkly and to do that which is evil - unjustly; Anger is the distillation of a poison which injures body and Soul and is a source of internal weakness, disease and failure. Sin, whatever its nature, is sin; that is to say, evil is evil, whether such action be hatred which blinds the Soul or the action that takes a life, and all who allow themselves to be mastered by passion are in danger of the judgment - condemnation); and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; but whosoever shall say, Thou fool (render judgment on another), shall be in danger of hell fire (condemnation - being judged according to his own judgment).

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar (if you voice a prayer and seek forgiveness) and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee If your are guilty of any offence whatsoever against any other), leave there thy gift (your intention) before the altar (in the heart - do not give up), and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother (make full restitution for your evil deeds against him, losses or sorrows caused him) and then come and offer thy gift (man's supplications for forgiveness are not acceptable to God, nor recognized by the Divine Law until he has complied with the Spirit of the Law, and first does unto others as he would be done by. Man, once fully comprehending this underlying Spirit of religion, will bethink himself before he commits wrong against, or bring losses to, his fellow man).

"Agree with thine adversary quickly while thou are in the way with him (in the same manner of life as he); lest the adversary deliver thee to the judge (the Law) and the judge deliver thee to the officer (the penalties for disobedience, and even for sitting in judgment against your adversary, while you are guilty of the same evils) and thou be cast into prison.

"Verily, I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence (receive forgiveness and be permitted to come into the kingdom of justice and righteousness) till thou has paid the uttermost farthing (until you have made restitution for all your unhallowed actions)."

Not only is man admonished not to take life or anything else he cannot restore, but also not to become angry; because anger, or thoughts of "getting even," usually precede the act. To become unjustly angry, to feel indignation without a righteous cause, is in effect a poisoning of mind and body, and may be so great as to leave its mark upon the body and Soul for ages.

There may be just cause for righteous anger (indignation), there is, however, no reason for the feeling of malice or thoughts of revenge, though there may be need for reasonable action to demand redress for the act which was the cause of indignation.

It is recorded that the Master-Teacher showed anger on a number of occasions, and became highly incensed with the evils he witnessed, though in no instance did he permit this to usurp his reason, or give birth to hatred, or a desire for revenge.

Anger, to which men are so prone, permitted an abiding place within man's being for any length of time, is destructive to all that is Divine. Anger is a destroyer of body, mind and Soul. It dethrones reason. It is a passion belonging to the negative side of life; it is evil in every respect. There is not a shred of good in anger, and it is rightfully said to be "of the devil-" the term ‘devil" including all that is degrading, debasing and destructive, all that leads away from life and toward death.

Holding and nursing anger against any one, a frequent occurrence in the minds and hearts of men, bear within itself the judgment, because it generates deadly poisons which may give instant birth to diseases as deadly as tuberculosis or cancer, and a myriad of other ailments too numerous to mention. It is a Law that any harm or injury we cause to ourselves is as strongly condemned by the Divine Law as acts committed against another.

If man has aught against his brother, and all men are in substance his brethren, not merely those of flesh and blood, and Spiritual offerings he can make at the throne of God will not be acceptable until he has eliminated all hatred, malice, feeling of revenge. Peace cannot be in the heart of man - his inner world of being - so long as he permits these feelings within himself.

No man can maintain two contrary emotions in his heart at one and the same time. It is utterly impossible to have the love of God in the heart and at the same time entertain hatred, a desire for revenge, or any evil feelings toward any one. Man cannot have the feeling of devotion in his heart and at the same time any phase of ill-feeling; nor can God accept such prayers that at best issue only from the mouth.

Before prayer in any form can become vital, that is, filled with power, potent for action and acceptable to Him who is all love, it must come to Him free from all taint of evil. Prayer, or any act of Devotion, includes the Invocations of the highest Initiate as well as the lowest petitioner. Man has a right, aye, is honor bound to seek justice for wrongs committed against him to demand restitution for losses, but this must be done in the proper spirit.

War, basically founded on hatred, aroused in the hearts of men either as the results of great evils committed, or by the shrewd manipulations of those who play on the weakness of men for their own benefit, is always an evil, even though it becomes necessary for the preservation of justice. However, all that it can accomplish at best, and the only instance in which it can be justified, is in the prevention of greater evils against a larger number.

Ultimately men will become conscious of their errors and will begin to employ more effective methods, except where attacked. This will be made possible by the universal shunning of such nations as attempt to engage in war against another nation, or nations, with out an admittedly just cause. This would be the effective age old method of "Mother Grundy." Today many of the great nations profess to be Christian; that is, to be guided by inculcations of the Nazarene, yet ignore every precept he ever taught.

Despite their profession, not a single one of these nations has ever attempted to deal with other outlaw nations according to the Divine Law, and the Christic principles. They have not declared them as outlaws, or severed all relations with them.

No nation, however great, could withstand such a procedure. Practically all wars have thus far been based on excuses, and trade and fraternizing has continued with the most vicious of those of engaged against all principles of justice, and righteousness.

When the multitudes of men awaken to the Law of Justice, as the Lord God Jehovah - through his Messengers - assures us they will, then, in case of war, the greatest equally with the lowest in the land, will be conscripted; each one shall be given a position or duty according to his fitness or ability; then, because no man shall be allowed to profit and all must equally suffer, wars will not be proclaimed except in the interest of justice to all concerned.

At that time also men shall see clearly, not by the eyes of profit; the nation that attempts to take advantage of a weaker nation, or one believed to be weaker, shall be placed on trial before all other nations, and shall be shunned by them as a leper; its trade shall be refused; it shall become an outcast with a mark of the "beast" upon its countenance; its days numbered.

Unthinking men say this will be impossible because it would interfere with business, work hardships, and lead to many difficulties. When the time comes for the Divine Law to function, nothing that is under the Law will be impossible. It will interfere with business, but not as greatly as war, and war always does that in any event. It will work hardship, but that is usual when there is a state of war. There will be many difficulties, but that is natural when nations act unnaturally. Thus far, neutral nations have profited by trade with both warring factions, caring little or nothing whether or not a wrong is righted, or wrong strengthened in its evils. The New Order of the Ages will not only affect the prophesied "land of the free," but all other nations as well, while unselfish interests will ultimately be the governing force.

No one possesses the strength to live among men while he has the brand of Cain upon him. The murderer for example; place upon his brow the mark designating him as a murderer, then set him at large and let men shun him. If truly hard of heart, he might brazen it out, but every glance directed at him would have its effect, and he would become more and more conscious that honest men would have nothing to do with him. Within a very short time his mental condition would become so chaotic that it would be utterly impossible for him to look any human being in the eyes, and his punishment for living among men, yet an outcast from them, would become utterly unbearable.

As with individuals, so with nations. A nation is no more than a conglomeration of many individuals, none of whom are changed because they form a nation. At first, the nation pronounced guilty and completely shunned by even one great nation, if the guilty nation were self-supporting, would be able to meet ostracism, but within a very short time its isolation would become unendurable, its citizens would rebel, it would seek to return to a place of acceptance by correcting its wrongs.

As mankind advances into the New Age or Dispensation, men will become wise and see more clearly. They will begin to employ more and more corrective measures in dealing with men of contumacious nature, disregarding every Natural and Divine Law, who do not "lose face" because unrighteousness is almost universal. Thus far, those who have been most guilty in bringing about war, or entering into a state of war, have seldom been those who were compelled to do the actual fighting, or who were made to suffer the financial burdens.

In general, it has been the poor but physically strong, the law-abiding, peaceful citizens, the backbone of the nation, who were compelled to leave their home and families to protect and uphold the honor and possessions of those who were left behind.
